Alumni Spotlight: Scott
“Opening night, I played a female role. I had makeup and a wig, and I was in the visiting room of an all-male prison. I felt lucky that I was able to get to the stage and remain conscious! But the next day, I’m walking down the hall, I’m wondering whether I’m going to get beat up, and some guy walks across from absolutely nowhere and says, ‘That took a lot of guts to do that.’”

Although Scott was a longtime patron of the arts, he never imagined himself on-stage – until he was sent to prison in 2010. There, as he tried to fill his time, he found a Two Rivers Theatre poster advertising an inmate production of ‘Twelfth Night,’ by William Shakespeare. After an affirming opening night, Scott was hooked. He went on to participate in, organize, and even produce numerous plays during his incarceration. OHOM was such a “saving experience,” as Scott calls it, that he now serves on the organization’s board, bringing true-to-life input and experience to the program.
