Black Lives Matter

We at Open Hearts Open Minds are deeply grieved at the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and far too many others. The police brutality that is happening here in this country and racism in all its forms is heart-wrenching, devastating, and impossible to ignore. What is sad is that it is not new and that it is an every day life truth for people of color.

It is time for our institutions and government to take responsibility. Law enforcement must be held accountable for the violence it inflicts. The system is broken, unjust and deadly. We demand investment in our Black communities and the resources to ensure Black people not only survive, but thrive. We demand real transformation NOW.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families of all those who have lost loved ones at the hands of our police.
