CRCI Studio Update

CRCI Studio is rockin! Not only have our incarcerated colleagues doubled down on some fine recordings, but we’ve had two events. The first was a screening of the short documentary called Music from the Inside. We’ve had the good fortune to collaborate with Outside the Frame. They captured the men in action and were able to reveal the joyous connections and quality work. About 70 supporters came to the Clinton Street Theater to watch the premiere. Mic Crenshaw moderated a Q & A with Nate Query and 3Lo. Watch Music from the Inside here.

Our second event occurred inside prison. Our classmates were eager to produce a concert this summer and they made it happen. Sorry for the lack of invitations, but the general public was not allowed to attend this one. Still, we were able to bring in a few outside musicians to join in the fun. And so much fun it was.

The outside production team is growing, and providing more support than ever, including collaborating on beat making. Three recently released alumni have received home studio starter kits, and there are plans for an outside gathering to continue supporting their music making.
