The Creative Writing program at CRCI harnesses the power of story to see, be heard, and heal. We cover foundational writing topics like grammar and punctuation, literary devices, story structure, and idea generation to enable our craft, but the heart of our program lives in cultivating our creativity. We utilize Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way and its practices to recover our creative selves and spark self-discovery dialogue in a supportive communal setting.
The Creative Writing program covers a range of fiction writing forms including short story, flash fiction, script writing, poetry, and novels.
We spend roughly 12 weeks working on a particular writing form and conclude each class session with a reading or table read (some of which are open to the public—join us!).
Program Goals:
Foster a supportive creative community that is safe for all that join.
Contribute meaningfully to class dialogue, the workshop, and editing process.
Build confidence through writing final works to share at the end of class.
Grow our creative selves and hone our writing skills in the process.
